Love travel and passionate about all things aviation. You’re in the right place. At Jetstar, you get to takeoff at work, and in life.

As a team, we’re lucky we get to do both for a living – and we want you to be part of where we go next. Helping our teammates soar is what we’re all about. And with a new fleet of state-of-the-art aircraft, plus new routes being added, the sky’s the limit.

Takeoff with your next opportunity

If you are passionate about improving safety by understanding how work really gets done? We are looking for a People Safety Manager – Human Factors who brings Human Factors (HF), Human and Organisational Performance (HOP) and behavioural based safety expertise to help us shift the way we think about people safety, error and performance in a complex operational environment.

In this role, you will play a crucial role in influencing how safety is embedded into work systems and decision-making across diverse teams located in Australia, New Zealand and offshore International sites. Importantly, this is not a traditional WHS compliance role. While a working understanding of WHS regulations is certainly valuable, the focus is not on compliance - but rather on enabling safer, smarter ways of working through systems thinking, practical human-centered design, and meaningful engagement with front line operations.

Your core responsibility will be to help leaders and teams identify the real-world conditions that influence work, and support the implementation of strategic initiatives that enhances learning, adaptability, and operational performance. By understanding the context in which work occurs and the workplace complexities, you will help the business embrace an informed people safety culture focused on organisational resilience. The role will focus on managing the implementation of strategic initiatives to drive improved outcomes in people safety performance for all our Engineering and Corporate team members. The role is accountable for the operationalisation, embedding and monitoring/reporting on initiatives and becoming a trusted advisor to the business unit Senior managers.

You’ll also work closely with the Jetstar and Qantas group Safety services team, fostering an integrated approach to people safety across the wider Qantas group. This role is ideal for someone with a deep interest in how systems and culture influence behaviour, and who is eager to bring HF and HOP principles into a business that is ready to think differently about what drives people safety. If you are motivated by improving real work, learning from the operational front, and designing environments where people can succeed -  this is your chance to make a meaningful difference.

About You

We’re searching for someone who has:

  • Qualification in Risk, Human Factors or Psychology.
  • Experience in Human Factors, HOP, behavioural science, systems safety, or related discipline.
  • Experience in Engineering and Maintenance is beneficial.
  • Understanding of relevant WHS Regulations is beneficial
  • Experience in working within a business partnering or similar service model, including the ability to build constructive, effective and influential working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good organisational skills, with ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently, under pressure and to meet deadlines.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with all levels of management and external stakeholders.
  • Prior experience delivering cross functional WHS and/or operational safety outcomes.
