 As the WHS Operations & Compliance Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring we meet and exceed our WHS compliance obligations. You will provide strategic and operational leadership and advice to all business areas as required to promote a safe working environment, ensuring alignment with legal requirements and industry best practices.  As part of the broader Qantas Group, you will be expected to ensure compliance with all applicable all applicable local, state, and federal associated regulations and standards, including best practice elements to ensure Jetstar meets and exceeds its obligations (where practicable). 

 

The role will liaise with Group Safety and People Safety Delivery Services to ensure collaboration and alignment in Group policies and procedures as they pertain to WHS obligations and ensure all accountabilities are met.  

 

You'll also work closely with the Jetstar and Qantas Group Safety Services team, fostering an integrated approach to people safety across the wider Qantas Group. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the safety culture within Jetstar, driving innovation and improvement in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. 

 

To be considered, key skills will include:    

  • Qualification in Risk, Human Factors or Psychology 
  • Prior experience working in a Human Factors or Fatigue based position within engineering is highly desirable 
  • Understanding of relevant WHS Regulations 
  • Graduate qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety management  or equivalent 
  • Relevant investigation qualifications/ experience 
  • Qualifications and/or +5 years experience in Workplace Health and Safety Management systems 
  • An airline operational qualification is desirable 
  • Thorough knowledge of WHS legislative requirements as they relate to airline operations 
  • Experience in working within a business partnering or similar service model, including the ability to build constructive, effective and influential working relationships with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Good organisational skills, with ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently, under pressure and to meet deadlines 
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with all levels of management and external stakeholders. 
  • Prior experience delivering cross functional WHS and/or operational safety outcomes.
