As the Senior Manager, Human Risk and People Safety, you will be responsible for shaping, implementing, and evolving Jetstar's people safety strategy. In this key leadership role, you will oversee a dedicated team, managing people safety risks across our operational business units—including engineering, cabin crew, airports and our corporate locations—with a focus on using  human factors behavioural safety and strategies to drive sustainable improvement in safety culture and continuing to ensure our team members have safety front in centre in mind and actions.  This role is not a WHS compliance role and is centred on people safety risk and implementing strategies and initiatives to continue our ‘safety first’ approach and performance.

 

You will work closely with the broader Qantas Group Safety Services team to ensure a seamless, integrated approach to people safety across the wider Qantas Group, driving alignment and continuous improvement in safety performance.

 

To be considered, key skills will include:   

  • Master’s level qualifications in Risk, Human Factors or Psychology
  • 6+ years’ experience working in safety, risk management and safety management systems with an advanced level of knowledge of airline operational roles and environment
  • Prior experience leading a team with the ability to coach and develop
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with all levels of management and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of WHS legislative requirements
  • A combination of well-developed program and project management, planning and analytical skills
  • An innovative and lateral thinker with a proactive approach, able to analyse critically, resolve complex issues and find creative solutions
