The Opportunity

The Operational Transformation team partners with Jetstar Airways operational business units and their leadership teams to identify, measure and deliver tangible opportunities to capture commercial benefits associated with cost efficiency and improved effectiveness opportunities.

The Manager Cost & Operational Efficiency will partner with and build strong performance-based relationships with the Jetstar operational management teams to identify significant cost improvement opportunities. 

This role reports into the Senior Manager, Operational Transformation and is accountable for delivering the strategic cost program objectives & required benefits whilst maintaining alignment with the safety and business goals of Jetstar Airways.

The core responsibilities of this role will be:

  • Leading multiple opportunity assessments and will be the single point of accountability for stakeholder management during the identification, validation and project implementation including project planning and delivery support, ensuring the anticipated commercial benefits are realised across the Jetstar business
  • Analysing and identify opportunities across the breadth of Jetstar business activities, driving increased commercial acumen and enhancing capability with respect to the process across the portfolio of Jetstar Operational areas
  • Managing multiple indirect resources across multiple assessments to identify cost drivers and cost efficiency opportunities, including directing the development of financial and organisational baselines, comparator analysis and carving out departmental activities as fully-loaded virtual P&Ls to enable the sizing of each opportunity
  • Partnering with operational teams to build the necessary business cases required for approval, including assisting with resources required to deliver the project and high-level project plans. In addition to ensuring the business delivers on the business case including ensuring meeting project timelines and benefits realisation

To be considered, key skills will include:  

  • Previous experience within management consulting and/or a corporate strategy, or commercial role
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Ability to build strong relationships and become a trusted advisor with stakeholders across the operation
  • Strong critical thinking skills, with ability to utilise analysis and insights to support decision making
  • Confidence in developing presentations and business cases, including presenting to a range of senior stakeholders 
  • A strong track record of successfully delivering projects and changes initiatives
  • Ability to balance long-term strategic projects, while implementing improvement initiatives that create cost savings opportunities
  • Tertiary qualifications in a Bachelor of Commerce, Economics, Strategy or a relevant industry experience would be highly regarded
  • Experience in continuous improvement methodologies (Lean Six Sigma)  highly regarded
