Job Description

  • Develop, lead and execute Jetstar’s overall strategic initiatives that drive the long-term profitability across our APAC business
  • Manage high priority projects, to influence and contribute to Jetstar's overall strategic direction
  • Permanent full-time opportunity at our Collingwood Head Office

Join our team as the new Strategy Manager where you will develop and lead strategic projects which assist senior management to make significant strategic decisions. Strategy projects are unique in nature and have high value, high impact outcomes. They involve complex and detailed analytical review of current business and industry performance and developing improvement and growth recommendations for the Group. Our Strategy Managers find and solve critical and challenging problems.

You will be responsible for identifying and developing strategic project proposals, scoping and leading approved projects and working in partnership with business owners to implement strategic recommendations and realise value for the business and customers.

You will be accountable for:

  • Preparing and presenting well-written, logical and insightful documents for Senior Management
  • Developing and utilising a detailed understanding of the Qantas & Jetstar Group businesses
  • Developing strategies to maximise shareholder value
  • Providing expert strategic advice and support to senior management
  • Facilitating strategic planning processes and support robust strategic analysis and planning
  • Developing and/or evaluating beneficial and/or profitable strategic opportunities
  • Identifying strategic risks and mitigation strategies
  • Presenting and communicating material to Senior Executives to promote understanding on recommendations and communicate progress towards assigned project outcomes
  • Coordinating multiple resources to deliver and lead strategic projects
  • Supporting the development of Jetstar’s Transformation pipeline
  • Developing knowledge and expertise related to Jetstar's markets, competitors, customers and capabilities and act as a centre of excellence in those areas of expertise

To be considered, key skills will include: 

  • Tertiary qualification in a business-related subject
  • Post-graduate qualifications, such as MBA, CA, CFA, will be highly regarded
  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant work experience in management consulting, investment banking, or in-house advisory preferred
  • Functional knowledge across marketing, sales, distribution, operations and customer facing areas
  • Highly self-motivated with a positive attitude and a commitment to delivering results
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to think big picture and understand potential outcomes
  • Outstanding verbal and written presentation skills with the ability to communicate information that tells a story, highlights key insights and facilitates business decisions
  • Extremely well developed numerical, analytical and modelling skills with a focus on developing actionable insight
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish sound working relationships with peers and senior personnel
  • Highly developed time management and prioritisation skills to effectively structure and execute multiple project work-streams in a dynamic, fast paced environment
  • Maturity and ability to work diplomatically across cultures with international stakeholders across Asia Pacific countries; Asian language skills will be advantageous
  • Willingness to travel as required for the needs of the position.
  • Experience in the Transport and /or Aviation industry is preferred
