Job Description

  • Be a key contributor in the Jetstar Flight Operations Team
  • Take pride in supporting all technical aspects of aircraft performance and loading
  • 18-month fixed-term contract opportunity located at our Collingwood Head Office

The Opportunity

As the Operations Engineer you will be responsible for the technical support of all aspects of aircraft weight and balance and performance to ensure compliance with manufacturers’ manuals, company operations manuals and relevant legislation for aircraft listed on the Jetstar Airways Air Operator’s Certificate.

The core responsibilities of this role will be:

  • Developing and maintaining special obstacle avoidance take-off procedures in compliance with relevant legislation
  • Developing and validating software for aircraft performance and load control, including applicable electronic flight bag (EFB) applications used by Flight Crew
  • Maintaining current and accurate databases and company manuals for aircraft performance and load control in compliance with manufacturers manuals, other company operations manuals and relevant legislation
  • Monitoring data affecting aircraft performance and loading
  • Providing technical support in relation to aircraft performance and loading

To be considered, key skills will include:   

  • A bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering
  • 2-3 years’ experience in engineering related roles would be desirable
  • Ability to analyse and solve complex problems under pressure
  • Strong internal and external stakeholder management skills across a variety of cross-functional business units
  • An understanding of Civil Aviation Orders and Regulations covering aircraft performance and loading is desirable
  • Previous experience with Boeing PET, AHM and OPT, Airbus PEP and FlySmart or Amadeus Flight Management (FM) software applications would be advantageous
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to various audiences
  • A proactive approach to work with the ability to manage competing demands of ad-hoc projects
  • A very strong attention to detail with an ability to analyse and solve complex problems
