Jetstar’s Operations Delivery team are nothing less than the nerve centre of our airline. All of our team members within our Operations Delivery team play a critical role in managing the logistics compliance and safety relating to daily movements of our aircraft, team members and passengers.
The Senior Operations Controller ensures the integrity of Jetstar Airways’ operations is maintained through effectively leading a team of Operations Controllers on duty.
In your new role, you will be accountable for coordinating resources, mitigating disruptions and optimising customer service, the Senior Operations Controller also maintains a central safety focus, balancing cost and commercial outcomes, whilst ensuring the requirements of engineering, flights operations and airports are met to deliver a flying program to schedule.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead a team of Operations Controllers on shift
- Ensuring a safe and compliant operation, whilst monitoring the departure and arrival times of Jetstar aircraft
- Adhere to JOCC procedures and comply with cost and commercial strategies
- Have oversight of the functional duties of Operations Controllers, providing support and coaching with a view to enhance the technical capability
- Ensure that the Manager JOCC Operations is notified of any variation to shift complement
- Comply with the day of operations strategy, as directed by the Manager JOCC Operations
- Undertake any initial and follow up actions as required under the SERP as required, act as delegate for the Manager JOCC Operations in addition to other operational duties to ensure business continuity
- Articulate solutions for unforeseen changes to the airline schedule, aimed at minimizing disruptions
- Take all reasonable and appropriate measures in order to mitigate scheduling anomalies
- Provide input into the ongoing development of the JOCC and provide support to the JOCC Leadership team
To be considered for this role, ideally you’ll have:
- Ability to lead/manage/supervise a team including coaching, mentoring, and development
- Minimum + 2 years’ experience, knowledge and understanding of airline operations
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation/Engineering Management would be highly regarded
- A strong understanding of relevant aviation legislation
- Highly developed financial and commercial acumen
- Demonstrated ability to cope under high levels of stress
- High level of motivation and innovation
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with proven leadership experience
- Ability to deliver and operation underpinned by cost, OTP, commercial and customer foundations.
- Ability to work shift work – 4 on 4 off rotation
